24 th of May Weekend 2011 Results in good fish fry

The tackle boxes all organized, new lures ready to go, old ones cleaned up, hooks sharpened all we need is good weather and have the fish show up.Fishing is boring if you do not catch fish. Wilma & I, once the weather cleared, arrived at Lyons Lake at the Ontario Manitoba border, the only place left to fish was the boat launch ramp. The good thing about it was it was level and a good place to sit. All the really good spots were taken and no fish being caught. The boat launch is about 200 feet from the dock where I caught my master angler rainbow 2 years ago.
We have many lures, plugs, spoons & spinners that we can use,and what in the past has worked going back as long as I can remember some 70 years so what we decided to use, as it has been well documented by yours truly, is the oldest and best way to put fish on your platter, the reliable slip bobber, slit shot, hook and worm.
Three years ago we discovered this set up and as a result we can brag about catching fish everytime out.
We were set up and lines were out, Wilma as usual was going back to camper to get treats and drinks and the fish were nibbling at worms, I felt that the hooks` were too big and she was going back and forth from launch to truck trying to locate my selection of hooks, like I only have several thousand on hand. She noticed her bobber was gone, pulled in rainbow number 1, we rebaited it again tossed it out and within 5 minutes rainbow 2, well you have a good thing going, rebait the wifes line as is,no changes right or your dead, you got it another five minutes or so, bobber out of sight she pulls in a speckled trout. I rebait the line and send her to camper to get more hooks, while she gone looking for the right hooks her bobber disappesrs I call out to her and think what the hell the only way I will catch a fish and be able to live with her I had better land one fish or I will never live it down. We now had our limit so had to quit fishing. Two hours later what a dinner Fresh Rainbow & Speckled trout with cheese potatoes and stewd tomatoes with fish left over for sandwiches.
Wilma & I have had the same results since we started using this set up:
Bobber stopper goes on line first, then the slip bobber, next split shot then a good ball bearing swivel and now the hook red is the best, half a dew worm works well.I had thought today that our hooks were to big but it worked out that the fish we caught were 12 to 14 inches the best eating size, upon checking my notes the master Angler I caught was on this same sized hook. You bet 100% success rate is Great.
